Maths Week Scotland 2024: Maths Tales

Maths Week Scotland will be back 25 September - 1 October 2023 with the theme Maths in Motion. Explore how maths helps us leads our top athletes to sporting success, takes us to distant planets and brings animated figures to life plus much more.

We have loved hearing from families and schools joining in with our Countdown to the Christmas Holidays, and have rounded up some of the pictures that have been shared with us.

With only three weeks to go until Scottish schools start their Christmas holidays, we'll be sharing some daily seasonal maths inspired activities every day from 1 to 20 December, to make the wait a little more fun.

This week is Creative Careers Week (21 - 25 November) where you can find out about different jobs and routes in the arts sector. Maths and creativity may not seem to go hand in hand but there's plenty of maths in the creative and cultural sector, and plenty of creativity in maths!

When you think of maths what colour comes to mind? Visitors to Glasgow Science Centre have been asked exactly that...and we can now reveal the results!

We love baking here at Maths Week Scotland, not least because there are a multitude of maths and numeracy skills involved in baking - from weighing, measuring and counting, to fractions, conversions, telling the time and more…
