MATHS and MONEY at Museum on the Mound: A step above your average school trip!

We are excited to launch Maths versions of some of our popular schools workshops. These are available in-person and digitally and are entirely free of charge. They are best suited for P5-P7 pupils. Our workshops have been designed to encourage pupils to think critically and creatively through exploration and discovery. If joining us digitally, handling materials will be sent to you in advance to make the experience as sensory and engaging as possible.

Through our hands-on activities, pupils will be able to apply their skills in a new context and build their confidence in using maths in real life situations. In What is Money?, pupils will use their investigative, numeracy and measurement skills to explore different things people have used as money. In Heads and Tails, pupils will put their critical thinking skills to the test as they examine the design and security features of coins. In Kists and Keys (available in-person only), our collections, including £1,000,000, are used to spark conversation about value, some of the benefits and risks of using cards and how to keep money safe.

For further information and to make a booking, please e-mail us at info@museumonthemound.com. These workshops are available year round, but sessions are limited, so please book as early as possible.
