Money and Maths at the Museum on the Mound
You may have heard the phrase “money makes the world go round,” but maths makes money go round. Maths affects how money is made, how it’s used and how it’s saved. Join Museum on the Mound for a week of fun, inspiring activities that bring MONEY and MATHS to life.
If you’re able to visit the museum, you’ll be able to see our collections from a new angle with our interactive, hands-on 'Money Maths at the Museum' trail. Make fun the common denominator as you make your way around the museum. You will put your maths and critical thinking skills to the test! We are free to visit and are open from 10am – 5pm, Tuesday-Friday and 1pm-5pm on Saturdays.
If you’ll be joining us online, check out our Maths Money Marvels videos, available on our YouTube channel. We discover how maths has been used to fight money crime. We explore probability through the fascinating history of Heads or Tails. In addition, we use our £1,000,000 to look at numeracy, measurement, percentages and value. These videos have been created to get young people talking enthusiastically about money and maths. Each video ends with activity suggestions to keep the conversation going.
