Knitting Life (17/18 Sept)

The Knitting Life project explores computer generated designs in the context of historical Fair Isle knitting. This exhibition looks at Madeleine Shepherd's inspiration and design process that produced this collection. The result is a mathematically rigorous tribute to the knitting traditions of Shetland and Fair Isle. As well as finished shawls, mittens, purses and bags, the exhibit will cover the research and development of the designs.
All pieces have been created by Madeleine Shepherd for her Knot Unknot label. Madeleine will be present throughout the exhibition to discuss the mathematics and her craft techniques with visitors.
PLEASE NOTE: this exhibition is open on Saturdays and Sundays only - 17, 18, 24 & 25 September.
Madeleine's research was funded by a Connected Innovators award from Creative Edinburgh and Creative Informatics at University of Edinburgh.
